Objective

• To gain complete control in distracting situations while on a leash

• To further develop your dog's willingness to learn and obey while off-leash in every day situations

• To develop a strong bond and reliable communication between handler and dog

Method

• Utilizing positive reinforcement methods, we will teach through repetition, until your dog has demonstrated a good understanding of the task at hand.  Only then will we implement a consequence  for unwanted or incorrect behavior.  We will also gradually transition from the learning environment to more realistic situations as dog and handler progress.

• Any unwanted or destructive behavior in the house

• Replacing unwanted behavior with positive or useful actions

• Implementation of negative reinforcement for inappropriate behavior

• Extension of commands covered in basic course

• Off-leash control in distracting situations

• Upon completion of this course, we expect your dog to respond reliably to ALL on-leash situations, and to have reasonable control in off-leash and distracting situations.

• 8 Week course

• 1 Lesson per week (Each lesson is 1 hour)

• Training is conducted indoors and will relocate outdoors as your puppy progresses

• The Advanced course will focus on working in challenging situations.  This will develop a deep level of communication between dog and handler, as dog must consistently demonstrate a high level of self-control. Initial work is done on a long line and will transition to off-leash.  It is essential that your dog is accurate and reliable with tasks developed in the intermediate course.
